Health secy reviews performance of Vehari hospitals

Health Secretary Jehanzeb Khan on Saturday directed the health department to complete the process of procurement of the new consignment of medicine for district and tehsil headquarter hospitals by December.
The health secretary said that the medical superintendents should improve the standard of the government hospitals and take personal interest in motivating people to benefit from free treatment facilities in government hospitals instead of going to private hospitals in a meeting reviewing the performance of government hospitals of Vehari.
He directed the medical superintendents to focus on energy management for reducing electricity bills and expenditures and a patient-friendly atmosphere in the government hospitals. He also said that it was necessary to discourage the business of spurious drugs and legal action was to be taken against people involved in such business.
He said that it was necessary to devise a support system for the families of deceased hospital employees. He added that the performances of doctors, lady health workers and lady health visitors should be improved and unserviceable medical equipment should be repaired by the end of August.
Health department insists
amendments in salary package: The Health department on Saturday sent a summary for the chief minister’s approval to include the demonstrators and blood transfusion officials in a special salary package, Pakistan Today has learnt.
A special salary package of Rs 5.2 billion has been announced by the Punjab government for doctors across Punjab. The health department wrote to the finance department requesting the inclusion of blood transfusion officials and demonstrators in the special salary package but the finance department responded that the chief minister’s approval was required for such an inclusion. Conceding to the finance department’s instruction, the health department forwarded a summary to the chief minister.
