Weinstein’s family rumoured to have arrived in Lahore

Rumors about the arrival of Dr Warren Weinstein’s family in Lahore in order to pursue the case of his abduction kept circling in the police circles until late Friday night.
However, neither police nor the officials of the American Consulate confirmed the news.
According to sources, Weinstein’s family has arrived in Pakistan. However, when contacted immigration officials denied that the abducted US citizen’s family had arrived here.
An investigator close to investigations into the case told Pakistan Today that Weinstein’s family was expected to reach the provincial capital in a day or two in order to pursue the case.
DIG Ghulam Mehmood Dogar’s Public Relations Officer Nayyab Haider said they did not have any information about Weinstein’s family’s arrival. He said American Consulate officials had not forwarded any schedule to them in this regard due to which they had not made any security arrangements for the family.
American Consulate spokeswoman Lesli Goodman said they too were unaware of the arrival of Weinstein’s family.
Warren was abducted from his Model Town residence-cum-office by 10 to 12 armed men who overpowered his guards. The 63-year-old American national is said to be suffering from a medical condition as well, and his company has repeatedly put out requests for his captors to allow him the medication he requires.
