Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) provincial leader Haji Afzal Pinyala on Saturday expressed reservations over the alleged irregularities in awarding party designations. Pinyala said the party meeting held on June 30 had unanimously agreed to nominate him as the Peshawar city district president while Zulfiqar Ali had been appointed the secretary general. However, Pinayala said he and Zulfiqar had not been offered the posts and were given no notification in this regard. Pinyala told reporters that decisions in the meeting had later been altered after interference from certain self-centered elements within the party ranks.
He said as per the new set up, Zulfiqar Ali would be the PML-N Peshawar president and Imran would be the party’s secretary general. All such developments were against the manifesto and constitution of the party, he said. He said people who had quit the party and joined PML-Quaid for benefits during Musharraf’s regime had now been awarded positions within the party and those who had rendered sacrifices had been sidelined.
The disgruntled Pinyala said he would not stay silent over such ‘illegal’ developments at the district chapter of PML-N and would bring facts into the notice of party chief Nawaz Sharif and provincial chief organiser of the party Sardar Mehtab Khan.
