Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani on Saturday called upon all political parties and patriotic elements to play role in controlling the law and order situation in Karachi.
Talking to Religious Affairs Minister Syed Khurshid Shah, who called on him at the PM House, he said that the government had already deployed additional security force to restore peace in Karachi and to bring the criminals to justice.
After attending funeral prayers for three policemen martyred in the attack on a elite force bus on Friday night, Sindh Home Minister Manzoor Wassan told journalists that at least 100 target killers have been arrested so far.
Wassan said that the target killers were being interrogated and were expected to reveal important information. He said that those believed to be behind the attack on the police bus in Korangi were among the arrested. To a question, he said that a plan was being formulated for the protection of Karachi’s residents.
A private TV channel reported that five more people were killed in the metropolis as violence continued unabated. At least 77 people lost their lives in four days of violence. The channel reported that the violence was reported in North Karachi, F.B. Area, Orangi, Pak Colony and other areas of the city.
An Edhi ambulance was attacked in Orangi, and three including the driver were injured. Mini buses were also attacked in Korangi and Sorhab Goth. The car of DIG East was also targeted in Korangi but no loss of life was reported.
