KCCI to produce entrepreneurs

The Chancellor Sir Syed University of Engineering and Technology (SSUET), Z.A. Nizami, has offered to support the objective of Karachi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) in bringing the graduating youth into the field of entrepreneurship.
An official said on Thursday that he made the offer in a meeting with KCCI’s Advisor for Banking/Insurance/CSR Sub-Committee, Ateequr Rehman, who called on him at his office in SSUET. “We want to create young entrepreneurs in order to benefit society”, he told the Chancellor while outlining KCCI’s objectives in the field of education. He was of the view that this would greatly help the youth who are finding it increasingly difficult to find employment.
The KCCI’s Advisor specially referred to SSUET students who, he said, performed a remarkable feat by developing a solar energy-run car which was exhibited at the Education Pavilion of My Karachi Exhibition held at Expo Center and called for close coordination between KCCI and SSUET to produce more better results.
“It has made us feel proud of the students of this University” Ateeq told Chancellor Nizami and said that the Chamber will take initiatives to get such things sponsored from philanthropists and multi-national companies. Nizami said that in order to help KCCI achieve its objectives the university is carrying out special courses for its students. The Chancellor assured that the university will provide full assistance in this regard. He pointed out that to promote engineering education the university is being run on no profit basis. Ateeq reassured that Karachi Chamber will do its best in encouraging students having qualities of entrepreneurship. He added that KCCI is the world’s 8th biggest chamber and equals the country’s 47 chambers.
Emphasizing that KCCI wants to do everything possible for the youth, the Advisor sought a list of projects developed by SSUET students to get sponsors for them. He said if this list is provided to them by the middle of September, the Chamber will start having sponsorship for these projects by October. He said the Chamber will hold a Sir Syed Day at Karachi University where creative students will be presented awards. He said the Chamber will help students entering the field of entrepreneurship in getting loans from the banks. “Our objective is to stall the flight of our talent from the country and help them stand at their own feet within the country,” he stated.
Nizami informed that SSUET is specially focusing on the aspect of counseling for its students and in this regard a number of seminars and events are organized for them. Ateeq also informed the Chancellor about their Thalassemia free Pakistan movement and said that a one-day seminar will be organized at SSUET to develop greater understanding and awareness among its students about this fatal disease.
