FBISE announces HSSC Part-1 result

The Federal Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (FBISE) on Friday announced Higher Secondary School certification (HSSC) for Part-I annual examinations 2011. The overall pass percentage was held to be 52.52 in the month of May.
As many as 44,882 students submitted applications for HSSC-I examinations, out of which 44,278 students appeared. Out of these, 23,254 were declared successful and 20,999 flunked. According to the FBISE, the examinations were held in 4th May 2011 and concluded on 7th June 2011. In the science group, 8,177 students appeared for the exam, of which 4,486 were male and 3,691 females.
Of these, 3,931 passed the examination with a passing percentage of 48.07 and 4,244 were declared to have failed. In the humanities group, 7,829 students appeared (1,363 male and 6,466 females), of which 4,084 students passed the examination. The passing percentage was 52.17 and 3,743 failed to reach this mark.
In the pre-medical group, 8,695 students appeared, in which 2129 male students and 6566 females’ students took part, in which 5712 students passed the examination with the passing percentage of 65.69 and 2976were declared fail. In pre-engineering group, 12,167 students appeared, 9,308 males and 2,859 females, of which 7,220 students passed the examination with the passing percentage of 59.34 and 4,938 were declared failed.
In other regular groups like commerce and medical technology, 5061 students appeared of which 1,860 students passed the examination and 3,201 failed.
2489 private students submitted applications for the HSSC-II examination, of which 2349 took the exam, out of which 447 students passed with a passing percentage of 19.03 and 1897 students failed. According to FBISE, this year 20 unfair-means cases were reported and all the cases had been decided. The procedure adopted to decide the cases ensured that a personal hearing was allowed to all concerned.
Regularly failing candidates are allowed to re-take the same exam along with the paper of HSSC Part II annual examination 2012, if otherwise eligible. The FBISE had also posted the results on its official website, and student could also learn their results through text messaging.
