All major rivers flowing normal

The Federal Flood Commission (FFC) on Friday said that presently all the main rivers including Indus, Jhelum, Chenab, Ravi and Sutlej are flowing normal.
The actual river flows and reservoir elevations indicates that Tarbela and Mangla Dams are at elevations of 1,536.64 feet and 1,201.70 feet respectively, which are 13.36 feet and 8.30 feet below their respective Maximum Conservation Levels of 1,550 feet and 1,210 feet, said an FFC daily report.
The combined live storage position of Tarbela, Chashma and Mangla reservoirs is 10.592 MAF as compared to last year’s 11.433 MAF. According to Flood Forecasting Division (FFD), Lahore, Seasonal Low lies over Northwestern Balochistan and moist current from Arabian Sea is reaching Punjab up to 3,000 feet.
The FFD predicted isolated thunderstorm/rain over Kashmir, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit-Baltistan and Northern Punjab including Rawalpindi, Sargodha, Gujranwala and Lahore divisions, besides upper catchments of Indus, Jhelum, Chenab, Ravi and Sutlej Rivers during the next 24 hours.
WATER RELEASED: The Indus River System Authority (IRSA) on Friday released 180,455 cusecs of water from various rim stations with an inflow of 246,488 cusecs. According to the data released by IRSA, the maximum water level in River Indus at Tarbela was 1,536.64 feet, which was 158.64 feet higher than the dead level of 1,378 feet. Water inflow in the dam was recorded at 139,900 cusecs, while the out flow was recorded at 80,000 cusecs.
The release of water at Kalabagh, Taunsa and Sukkur was recorded at 136,574, 148,932 and 89,940 cusecs, respectively. The water level in River Jhelum at Mangla was 1,201.70 feet, which was 161.70 feet higher than the dead level of 1,040 feet. The inflow of water was recorded at 19,133 cusecs and outflow at 13,000 cusecs. Similarly, 34,800 cusecs of water was released from River Kabul at Nowshera and 52,655 cusecs of water was released from River Chenab at Marala.
