The investigation team headed by Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) additional Director General (DG) Zafar Qureshi has formally restarted investigation into the National Insurance Company Limited (NICL) scam and has issued instructions to members of the investigation team on further proceedings in this regard, a source in the FIA told Pakistan Today on Thursday.
The source said the chief investigator was informed by other members that the inquiry had stopped after his transfer on April 18. He said FIA DG Tehsin Anwar was being formally informed about the investigation’s progress as he was a part of the investigation team. “The lead investigator has not formally asked the FIA DG to join the team as it was not necessary at that time,” the source said. “Anwar will be formally asked to join the investigation process as and when the chief investigator deems it necessary,” he said.
To a question on seniority of the two officers, Anwar and Qureshi, the source in the FIA said Qureshi was promoted to BS-21 in January 2011 but Anwar’s case was deferred. Anwar was later promoted to BS-21 in June 2011.

  1. It matters not who is senior or junior to the other. But in the helms of this profession the
important factor is the ability of the official conducting enquiry to be able to withstand all kinds of pressure from all vested sources.Only a person with strong Will and having
leadership character of Honesty, Integrity and Intelligence ( balanced between his Emotional and Intellectual Capacities). Zafar Qureshi has so far shown this ability and
needs full support from the Judiciary and Civil Society.
