Ijaz appointed assistant coach for Zimbabwe series

Pakistan’s former middle order batsman Ijaz Ahmad has been appointed as assistant coach for Zimbabwe tour. The Pakistan Cricket Board said in a statement on Thursday that Ijaz has been appointed “on the request of team management” and will travel the team to Zimbabwe next week. Ijaz was part of Waqar Younis’ coaching team last year during the Asia Cup and the tour of England. Ijaz, 42, was famous for his hard-hitting batting before retiring from Test cricket in 2001. The Pakistan cricket team will play one-off test, three one-day internationals and two twenty20 internationals during their tour to Zimbabwe, according to itinerary received here on Wednesday. Pakistan squad is due to leave for to Zimbabwe capital Harare on August 25 to play the series. Pakistan team will open their 23-day tour with one-day game against Zimbabwe XI at Queens Club Ground on August 28 and conclude the tour with second T20 International at Harare Sports club Ground on September 18.
