The Pakistan Medical Association (PMA) on Wednesday condemned the Punjab Finance Department for omitting demonstrators, women medical officers, senior women medical officers, senior demonstrators and blood transfusion officers in the notification of the special salary package announced by Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif.
PMA office-bearers demanded the provincial government to take stern action against those officials who were trying their level best to create unrest in the doctors’ community forcing doctors to go on strike. They said that the CM had announced a special salary package in form of a Health Professional Allowance (HPA), which included Rs 15,000 for all cadres of BPS-17 doctors and Rs 10,000 for BPS-18 and above, including teaching specialists. They said that there was no coordination between the Punjab Accountant General Office, finance department and health department and these departments were unable to facilitate other departments and as a result, the CM’s orders were being violated instead of being implemented.
