Key to heaven?

The terrorists seem keen to gain access to heaven by killing innocent people, which is totally against Islamic teachings.

Recently, a home-made ticking bomb enclosed in a steel box, weighing 30kgs and ready to be remote controlled was placed in a residential colony mosque of the Jinnah Hospital in Karachi by a mysterious man. Fortunately, it was defused by the police and bomb disposal squad in time. Explosion could have wrecked havoc in half a kilometre of the area during the Friday prayers, according to the police.

Residents of the area and Jinnah Hospital’s staff who found the box informed the SP Saddar, Waqar Milan and then the bomb disposal squad and rescue 1122 were contacted, otherwise many lives would have been taken while they attended or got ready for the Friday prayers.

The acting CCPO Karachi Iqbal Mehmood ordered all worship places to be strictly secured. It was reported that the container also contained ball bearings, detonators and batteries and the bomb’s proportions resembled the device targeting navy-buses in Baldia Town on 26 April, 2011. Cement was used to seal the box.

“The followers of the Shia sect were asked earlier to offer their prayers away from residential areas for security reasons,” said Dr Jamali. The administration was willing to offer them a location to build a new imam bargah in consultation with all the stakeholders.

Similarly just before this, a car bomb took the life of an innocent nine-year-old with another two in Peshawar. The list of explosions and terrorism attacks goes in when listing down the evil events taking place in Pakistan.

Taliban and other Islamist extremist networks have been held responsible for having killed about 4,500 people across Pakistan. All these bombings have made Pakistan an unsafe country and a 24-hour threat to innocent lives.

In addition to that, it is unbelievable of how anyone can accept obtaining the key to heaven by killing innocents lives, innocents who have left their houses to either earn a living or are training to protect Pakistan.

That being said it would be a good change if the entire nation would become united against terrorism and devise a strategy to strive for their right of feeling secure in their nation. But the important question is about the will of an individual, about how keen he is to support democracy, to live and let live as was promised when Pakistan was established as a separate state.
