Dengue hell breaks loose

Dengue continued its unending spree on Thursday, as 41 more cases were reported in Punjab. Only one case was reported in Faisalabad while all the rest were diagnosed in Lahore. Most of the patients were diagnosed at private-sector hospitals, which shows a distrust on government-sector hospitals. Jinnah Hospital, Mayo Hospital, Services Hospital and Institute of Public Health reported 11, 3, 5 and one case respectively while rest of the patients were admitted to private-sector hospitals.
The disease is becoming an epidemic very quickly and the number of patients diagnosed this week reached 145 while the number of patients since January touched 226. It is a pity that despite its tall claims of good governance, the Punjab government has failed to control the disease, which is a big threat to the health of the citizens.
