The Government of Punjab in response to the story published in Pakistan Today of 15 August 2011 has clarified that it would be absurd to insinuate that Barrister Mujtaba Jamal has been paid excessive fees by the Government or any work has been assigned to him as a favour.
On few occasions he was consulted by the Government on important legal matters purely on merit in view of his professional expertise. However, on more than one occasions, Barrister Mujtaba Jamal waived his fees for the legal assistance rendered. It is further clarified that Barrister Mujtaba Jamal has not been instructed to file or review all or any major cases of the Government of Punjab or represent the Government in them.
