Three children, staging a token hunger strike in front of the Karachi Press Club for the last 35 days for the release of their pregnant mother Farzana Panhwar, reached the office of the Human Rights Commission Pakistan (HRCP) Sindh chapter on Tuesday.
Six-year-old Ajmal and his sisters, four-year-old Fariha and three-year-old Rafiha, are residents of a small village called Dhotra Pahnwar, located near Khudabad in Dadu district. After failing to grab the government’s attention even after staging a token hunger strike along with their relatives for so many days, they contacted the HRCP Sindh chapter.
Ajmal told Pakistan Today that his maternal uncle Ali Raza married Khalida Chandio, whose parents did not accept this union. Around two months ago, some men of the Chandio clan attacked their village, killed three people including Raza and kidnapped his mother.
“We contacted many authorities to help us secure her release, but despite lodging an FIR, the Dadu police are not doing anything. We demand that the Sindh government and police authorities should ensure her release,” said Khalid Panhwar, a relative of the family.
