Every country has an independence day commemorating the anniversary of a nation’s assumption of independence and recalling the sacrifices and struggles of the people who fought for that independence.
14th August is the national independence day of Pakistan and it is celebrated across the country to commemorate the sacrifices rendered by the people and mark the countries independence from the British Empire.
People celebrate all over the country with flag raising ceremonies and by paying tributes to national heroes and leaders. The president and prime minister also took part in flag raising ceremonies and delivered speeches to the public.
Muslims of the subcontinent, in the leadership of Quaid-e-Azam Mohammad Ali Jinnah and his team, gathered and struggled to get this country where the people could spend their lives free from oppression according to their religion and have religious independence and socio-economic and political justice.
This day commemorates the sacrifices rendered by our leaders for social justice, independence of education, where every person has to right to preach and practise their religion and conduct their business. This day reminds us that principles of democracy, freedom, equality, tolerance and social justice, as enunciated by Islam, shall be fully observed while fundamental rights shall be guaranteed and the judiciary shall be independent.
But all these guidelines given by the Quaid-e-Azam is yet to be fulfilled and would be achieved. If the people want to see the Quaid’s country, a welfare state where the dreams of their founder are fulfilled, then a sincere and loyal leadership should be elected to overcome all the problems faced by the people.
