Modesty, a lost trait

Nowadays, people don’t realise how infiltrated Islam has become, especially when it comes to modesty in today’s youth. In our race to keep up with the modern ways of life, we fail to notice how small things can have a controversial impact on Islamic principles.

The youth are being indoctrinated with un-Islamic culture. Firstly, the clothes we wear may not seem all that important in the grand scheme of life to anyone other than ourselves, however they speak volume about us. We dress according to what’s “in”.

Secondly, we are living in a time where you are constantly exposed to shamelessness and exposed to such an extent that we are desensitised to it. When one sees or reads something lewd or vulgar for the first time, whether it’s on the TV channels, the internet or even in books and magazines, they get disturbed because they still have they honour intact. But if you continuously see the same thing over and over again, you start thinking what the big deal is and why do people make a big fuss about it?

Muslims, especially our youth, have allowed for shamelessness to take over our lives. It all comes down to our upbringing, our training, the type of gatherings and peers we have and how close we are to Allah.
