The Karachi Water and Sewerage Board (KWSB) has said that despite the passage of 98 hours, electricity has not been restored to the Gharo water pumping station.
According to a KWSB statement, power supply at the Pipri pumping station has also been suspended for the last 18 hours. According to Karachi Electric Supply Company (KESC), a fault in cables has caused disruption of power supply to the pumping stations and efforts are being made to repair it. As soon as the cable fault is repaired, the power supply to the pumping stations would be restored.
KWSB Managing Director Misbahuddin Fareed has appealed to KESC officials that keeping the holy month of Ramazan in view, steps be taken on war-footing basis to repair the cable fault. He said after the cable fault is repaired, the normal restoration of water supply would take up to 48 hours.
