Kalma Chowk fly over was completed in a record period of 135 days and it was a shinning example of speed, quality and transparency, Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif said while inaugurating the flyover on Ferozepur Road on Sunday
He said the flyover, when completed, would be a model for Punjab and other provinces, adding that it was the gift of Punjab government to the citizens on the occasion of the country’s 64th birthday. He said the Punjab government had introduced a new tradition in timely completion of large-scale, cost-effective projects.
He said Rs 0.3 crore had been saved by completing the project well within time and the cost was Rs 2.3 billion, as it was estimated six months ago. He praised the contractors, labourers and engineers for their efforts. He said the projects inaugurated by previous governments were a spectacle of unprofessional attitude and corruption.
He said an underpass would also be completed at Barkat Market at the cost of Rs .1 crore by September this year. Senior Advisor Sardar Zulfiqar Ali Khan Khosa, provincial ministers, MPAs, quarter master general, NLC director general, officers of NESPAK and concerned departments as well as a large number of people attended the function.
