Punjab Governor Latif Khosa on Sunday visited Allama Iqbal’s mausoleum on occasion of Independence Day and laid a floral wreath. Khosa offered fateha and prayed for peace and progress of the country. The governor said, “Despite facing a lot of crises, Pakistan has made better progress.” He said that the nation should learn from Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah’s and Iqbal’s thoughts.
A prestigious ceremony was held at the Governor’s House in which university vice-chancellors, faculty deans and a large number of students participated. Students sang national songs and delivered speeches related to the day. Separately, a ceremony was held at the Lahore High Court (LHC) in connection with Independence Day where LHC Chief Justice (CJ) Ijaz Ahmed Chaudhry hoisted the national flag.
All LHC judges and other offices participated in the ceremony. Addressing the ceremony, the LHC CJ said that the main purpose of the Quaid’s effort was a separate country for Muslims where they had religious freedom and could lead their lives according to Islamic teachings.
