Fishing season at its peak

Water level at famous and large dams of Islamabad: Rawal and Simly dam, that are best reservoirs for fishing, start rising by the mid of July. One can always enjoy fishing in the dams during this time. Rawal Dam is the most famous fishing spot near the twin cities, where Rohu and Common Carp are the two famous breeds of Rawal Lake.
Mostly with the beginning of monsoon spell the fishing season starts breathing again with some small fishing activity in its early form and an increase in the activity can be expected. “The daily fishing fee is only Rs 10 and it is very inexpensive as every one can afford it that is why there are many visitors including families, youngsters and elders who plan fishing and picnics at the Rawal Dam,” said Malik Saleem, an official of the Capital Development Authority (CDA).
He said that more water in the dams of Islamabad like Rawal Dam and Simly Dam provides more chances of catching fishes to the fishermen. A rush of fishermen despite of Ramadan was witnessed at the Rawal Lake on Saturday who came across the twin cities to enjoy the fabulous view of the lake along with the fishing activity.
The weather got hotter and humid; the sign of the peak season for fishing in Islamabad, and as soon as monsoon began, the rain water filled the small reservoirs as well that created more opportunities for fishing in even small reservoirs of the city such as nullahs or natural streams of Margalla hills.
