Mumbai attack accused withdraw petition against Malik

The accused in the Mumbai attack case on Saturday withdrew the contempt of court petition that they had filed against Federal Interior Minister Rehman Malik in the Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC).The accused had filed the contempt-of-court petition against the interior minister over the publication of his statement in an Indian daily, The Hindu.
The hearing of the case was held at the ATC under Judge Shahid Raffique.
FIA prosecutor Chaudhry Muhammad Azhar informed the court that the interior minister could not receive the court notice as he was in Lahore. Azhar also told the court that the minister had sent a message saying, “I do respect the courts. I stated during a speech in London that the government would send a judicial commission to India within eight to tendays once the court had announced the constitution of the judicial commission.”
The seven accused; Zakiur-Rehman Lakhvi, Shahid Jamil Riaz, Hamad Amin Sadiq, Abdul Wajid, Muhammad Younis Anjum, Jamil Ahmed and Mazhar Iqbal, who were arrested in connection with the Mumbai attacks, were produced before the court on Saturday.
