The Federal Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (FBISE) on Friday announced results of the Higher Secondary School Certificate (HSSC) Part-11 examinations with an overall passing percentage of 75.76.
As many as 47,004 students applied for the HSSC-II examinations, of which 46,355 students appeared. While 35,117 students were declared successful, 11,219 students failed the examinations. The examinations were held in May and concluded on June 7.
Federal Professional and Technical Training Minister Riaz Hussain Pirzada was the chief guest. Parents, students, and teaching staff of various schools and colleges attended the ceremony. FBISE Chairwoman Dr Shaheen Khan was also present.
The minister lauded the efforts of students, saying, “Hard work, commitment and dedication of these students helped them achieve their objectives and I am hopeful these youngsters will continue to excel academically and earn laurels for themselves and make their teachers and parents proud,” he said. He added that he was hopeful that the youth would actively participating in the country’s progress after the completion of their professional education.
In the Science group (regular) 7,506 students appeared in the examinaiton, of which 3,859 were male candidates, and 3,647 were female. With a passing percentage of 71.62 percent, 5,376 students passed the examination while 2,130 failed it.
In the Humanities group (regular) 7,827 students appeared, of which 1,207 were male candidates, and 6,620 were female. With a passing percentage of 74.69 percent, 5,846 students passed the examination, while 1,980 failed it.
In the Pre-Medical group (regular) 6,846 students appeared, of which 1,394 were male candidates, and 5,452 were female. With a passing percentage of 89.64 percent, 6,137 students passed the examination, while 700 failed it.
In the Pre-Engineering group (regular) 10,026 students appeared, of which 7,360 were male candidates, and 2,666 were female. With a passing percentage of 86.82 percent, 8,705 students passed the examination, while 1,138 failed it.
Similarly, 9,426 private students submitted applications for HSSC-II examination. Around 8,969 students appeared in the examination, and with a passing percentage of 55.56 percent, 4,983 students were declared successful while 3,982 students failed it. In the Sciences groups (Private) 3,458 students appeared, out of which 2,441 students passed the examination, while 1,017 failed it.
In the Arts groups (Private) 5,511 students appeared, of which 2,542 students passed the examination, while 2,969 failed. According to FBISE, this year 11 unfair-means cases were reported. A judicious procedure was adopted to decide the cases and every effort was made to ensure personal hearings were allowed to all. The FBISE also posted the results on its official website www.fbise.edu.pk.
Applications for re-checking of papers can be submitted within 30 days of the declaration of the result, that is, until September 11. The HSSC-II supplementary examination will be held on October 6.
