The government should ensure that public sector employees are doing their duties while at work from 8:00am until 3:00pm and not wasting of time. The Cabinet Division/ Establishment division needs to design a package to improve the performance of public sector employees. The government should also block irrelevant websites There should be monthly reports to assess the improvement of public sector performance as a result of the government’s measures.
Above all, firm and strong steps are needed to curb the menace of corruption of time in the public sector organisations. An atmosphere has to be created where the good, patriotic, officers come forward to serve the country with pride, virtue, and honesty for the welfare of the people of Pakistan. In this matter, it is proposed that the capacity building and training institutes such as Secretariat Training Institute (STI), Civil Services Academy (CSA), NIPA among others, sensitise the officers about the judicious use of time in the public sector offices.
