Different areas in the city are being supplied less water for the past two days due to the disconnection of electricity supply to the Gharo Pumping Station, the Karachi Water and Sewerage Board (KWSB) said in a statement issued on Friday.
The electricity supply to the pumping station was suspended on the night of August 11 that has not been restored even after 38 hours. The power supply was restored only for a small period.
Many areas including Landhi, Cattle Colony, Korangi, Future Colony, Shah Faisal Colony, Ninth Mile, the PECHS Society, Bilal Colony and Awami Colony are being supplied reduced amount of water
Three out of total 11 motors installed at the pumping station are being used with the help of power generators to supply water.
The pumping station supplies 29 million gallons of water daily but due to disruption of electricity supply, a shortage of 46.3 million gallons has occurred during the last two days.
The pumping station has managed to supply only 12 million gallons of water, rather than 58 million gallons during last two days to the affected areas.
