Islamabad High Court (IHC) Chief Justice Iqbal Hameedur Rehman on Friday referred missing persons’ cases to the Commission on Enforced Disappearances (CoED) and sought a report from the ISI director general in this regard.
The IHC chief justice passed the order after hearing four identical petitions, seeking recovery of four missing persons, Imran Yousufzai, Hayyan Dawar Khan, Osama Hanif and Dr Abdul Qayoom.
The next date of hearing is September 26.
The court would not take any lenient view in the matter, the CJ said and added that no serious efforts were being made for their recovery. The chief justice also directed the deputy registrar (judicial) to forward a copy of the writ petition to the commission for enlisting the detainees as missing persons. The Commission should probe the case and inform the court of progress, if any.
