Foolproof security plan devised for Independence Day

The capital police have devised a foolproof security plan for the Independence Day and will make special deployment at all important installations, buildings and markets to avert any untoward incident and provide complete security to the citizens.
Following the directions of Inspector General of Police (IGP) Bani Amin Khan, a special security plan has been devised by SSP Tahir Alam Khan in consultation with all stake holders. A police spokesman said the plan included deployment of around 1,500 policemen at all important installations, parks, markets and other public places.
City SP Muhammad Ilyas, Sadar SP Ch Liaquat, Industrial Area SP Ishaq Warraich and Rural SP Faisal Bashir Memon will supervise these security arrangements in their respective areas. Keeping in view the possibility of visitors on the evening and night of August 13 and August 14, special strength has been provided to all the police stations to maintain a high alert security.
Police reserves will also be deployed at Dhokri Chowk, Korianwala Chowk, French Embassy Chowk, Kashmir Chowk and Melody Chowk. As many as four teams of Quick Response Force (QRF), commandoes, lady commandoes and eight teams of mounted police have been formed to patrol Constitution Avenue.
All sub divisional police officers (SDPOs) and station house officers (SHOs) will arrange special patrolling in their areas and mobile officers will take notice of the suspicious persons and vehicles. All the vehicles having tinted glasses or suspicious number plates will be checked thoroughly and their relevant particulars will be noted.
Rangers will be deployed in the federal capital on the orders of the district magistrate. Policemen in plain clothes will be deputed to collect advance intelligence and in case of useful information they will immediately inform the police officials concerned as well as the main police control. Strict security will be maintained at all key points, foreign installations, Diplomatic Enclave, Aiwan-e-Sadar, the PM’s House, PM’s Secretariat, the Foreign Office, NADRA Headquarters, Supreme Court of Pakistan, State Bank of Pakistan, Parliament Lodges, Parliament House and Convention Centre.
The CDA and hospital authorities have been also requested to provide fire brigade vehicles and ambulances according to the security plan. SSP Tahir Alam has directed all police officials to maintain strict vigilance at all police pickets and entry as well exit points of the city. He has also directed checking of hotels, inns, guesthouses and slum areas.
The Islamabad Traffic Police (ITP) personnel have been assigned duties at various points of the city to maintain smooth flow of traffic. Special police squads have been constituted to take action and arrest one-wheelers. Arms’ display will be completely banned on the occasion and no one will be allowed to create any kind of disturbance.
