Clean environment linked to economic progress

Environmental protection is directly linked to economic progress and to make the country a welfare state, there is an urgent need to address the environmental issues on a priority basis, Sindh Environment and Alternative Energy Minister Muhammad Shaharyar Khan Mahar said on Friday.
He was chairing a meeting of the Environment and Alternative Energy Department at its office at in the Korangi Industrial Area.
Talking to officers of the department, he said that for the mitigation of environmental pollution, all public and private sectors must be minutely monitored to point out the deviation of environmental standards for their rectification accordingly.
He said that to bring all sectors into the orbit of environmental compliance, strict implementation of environmental laws is need of the hour.
“For the protection, conservation and improvement of the environment of Sindh in particular and of the country in general all institutional efforts should be well-coordinated to obtain better results,” he added.
Earlier, Secretary Environment and Alternative Energy Sindh Mir Hussain Ali briefed the minister about the performance of the department.
