It was unexpected that Pakistan’s Foreign Minister Hina Rabbani Khar would receive such an overwhelmingly positive reception in India and that she would capture the Indian imagination in such a dazzling manner. It is again a great step of both countries to make efforts for peace after a period of tension in the relations. That period was started from the de-commencement of composite dialogue after the 26/11 terrorist attack at Mumbai. Pakistan has been trying to clear its position in this regard, providing evidence and proofs; the Sharm-ul-Sheikh Conference is one of the best examples in this regard where Pakistan Prime Minister, Yousaf Raza Gillani, gave evidence to his Indian counterpart, Manmohan Singh.
Plainly speaking, this visit would not be able to bring a radical change in the near future especially in regards of major disputes such as Kashmir and Water issues but the exchange of views between the two sides will definitely ease down the current tensions and the process of peace and confidence building will move forward. Pakistan’s current democratic government should avail this chance of making peace with India as it is very important for stability of both the countries.
