The lights may go off in the President House and the PM House but they never go off in some localities. There is no loadshedding there and it is not because the realtors generate their own electricity. They simply manage Wapda better than others which means that while even the most privileged turn on their generators, Wapda’s sun never sets on those realtors’ empire.
On an entirely different note, we are told that cracks between NS and Chaudhry Nisar have not been fully repaired. Apparently, Nisar is highly disturbed by the fact that a realtor is funding Haji Nawaz Khokhar who in turn has unleashed a malicious campaign against Chaudhry Nisar in the latter’s constituency, NA-52. This obviously is a bid by Khokhar to win that seat in the next election. Apparently, Khokar is sponsored by a realtor who excels in becoming the best friend of any one who reaches the pinnacle of power in Pakistan. Not surprisingly, he now has a growing business relationship with a young Sharif. Chaudhry has shared his grievances with NS and SS, pointing out the growing business connection between you know who. Nisar, we hear has been assured of cooperation. But a little birdie tells us that someone else has spoken to dad putting in a word for the realtor. Apparently SS once closer to Nisar than even NS, is being persuaded that “misplaced” emotions and loyalty should not interfere with the affairs of business. Will it be family business over politics or will the fiery Nisar win out? A test for NS? Yes and also for the legendary realtor who has an unbroken record in winning friends and buying partners.

The debate on creating new provinces has brought someone out of the wood work. The Nawab of Bahawalpur, never one to flaunt his title except when he went to court claiming the obsolete inheritance law for the first born son of a Nawab, has now resurfaced. Move over Hazara and Seraiki, the Nawab has demanded a separate Bahawalpur province. Apparently the Nawab is over sixty, maintains the style that befits royalty and could start a career in politics given half a chance and a province. Now officially in politics, it was noted that he wore a tell tale Jinnah cap. Style and substance and ambition indeed.
