Election Commission of Pakistan on Thursday declared the degree of Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid MPA Syeda Majida Zaidi fake and ordered the relevant district police officer (DPO) to lodge a first information report (FIR) against her. The ECP heard five cases of fake degree holders on Thursday including a case filed against MNA Sardar Muhammad Yaqoob Khan Nasir, which was dismissed.
According to details, Sardar Muhammad Israr Tareen had moved an application against Nasir alleging that he had not submitted his election expenditures. The hearing of cases against MPAs Ijaz Ahmad Noon (PP-209), M Khan Toor MPA (PB-16) and Senator Mir Israrullah Khan Zehri was fixed for September 26 with the reservation that the date would not be postponed henceforth.
Chief Election Commissioner Justice (r) Hamid Ali Mirza, Justice (r) Fazalur Rehman, Justice (r) Shahzad Akbar Khan, Justice (r) Riaz Kayani and Justice (r) M Roshan Essani heard the petitions. Najma Ahmad had challenged Zaidi’s election for women’s seat, alleging that Zaidi was not a graduate and that she had also been elected as an MPA in the previous Punjab Assembly on a fake BA degree.
