LAHORE – Commenting on the Corps Commanders’ review of the military operation in the Tribal Areas and the economic cost of the Karachi situation, Jamaat-e-Islami chief Syed Munawar Hasan questioned the rationale of the government’s policy.
Talking to delegations at Mansoora on Thursday, he said the military high-ups should inform the nation regarding the duration and the purpose of these operations. The armed forces should present a balance sheet on the results of the military operations and the war on terror, he said, adding that Pakistan had gained nothing in its 10-year-long partnership with the US in its ‘war on terror.’
He said the country’s independence and sovereignty had been placed at stake and the economy had suffered heavy loses, adding that thousands of citizens had also lost their lives.
