The Cambridge International Examinations (CIE) announced the Ordinary, Advanced and Advanced Subsidiary Level examination results on Thursday, in which business students outclassed science students and the Beaconhouse School System (BSS) topped all others in grades, Pakistan Today learnt on Thursday.
Thousands of students rushed to their schools to find out their results. Adeel, a teacher at University College Lahore, told Pakistan Today that two students from BSS had scored 12 A grades in Ordinary Level, while two students from Bloomfield Hall School had scored 9 A grades. He said the performance of The City School, Lahore Grammar School (LGS) and Lahore College of Arts and Sciences (LACAS) came in after BSS and Bloomfield Hall students in all Cambridge International Examinations.
He said business students scored much better grades than science students mostly because quality science teachers had moved to other countries and more and more students were opting for business subjects as they offered cheaper university education in Pakistan and abroad. He said Pakistani students always got distinctions in CIE exams and hoped that they would stand out once again. Students also faced some difficulty in getting results on the official website owing to high traffic.
British Council Pakistan said there were intermittent performance issues with the Cambridge Candidate Results website. “We are sorry for the disruption and assure you that our technical experts are making every effort to resolve these issues. We advise all Cambridge students to be patient as difficulties are intermittent,” it said.
Lahore Learning Campus (LLC) Principal Shehryar told Pakistan Today that LLC’s results were excellent as 30 percent of its Advanced Level students had scored straight As. He claimed that the only A Level student selected by Harvard University from Lahore this year was Hassan Tariq from the LLC, as he had scored 7 As. The exams were held earlier this year in May and June, and distinctions will be announced in October.
Nyc sources dude! -____- i got 9 A*’s n in my O levels n overall siences has performed MUCH better than business students! 😐
i got 15 As in my Alevels 😀
Strong bias.I know students in BSS who failed badly with Ds and Es and i also know students in other schools got much better results, instead of using the paper for free publicity, id like to see credible information, sadly this is consistent with the yellow journalism PT is involved in.I personally know 3 more people who got into Harvard this year, this just seems like free advertisement for LLC.American colleges look FAR beyond grades when deciding the fate of students.
