The City School, in collaboration with Waste Busters, is organising a four-day cleanliness campaign, “Let’s Bin It!” to celebrate Independence Day from today (Thursday) to August 14. The campaign aims at creating awareness among the general public regarding the menace of littering and to inculcate a sense of civic ownership and responsibility.
City School Regional Director Michelle Amir said that the focal point of the campaign will be a carnival float, which will visit different places around Lahore, including Defence Housing Authority (DHA), Fortress Stadium, Shami Road, Cavalry Grounds, Firdous Market, Liberty Market, Gulberg Main Boulevard, Sherpao Bridge, Jail Road and Shadman over these four days, completing its route at The Mall of Lahore.
Michelle Amir said that students will encourage the public en route to sign on a resolution, pledging to stop littering. Souvenirs such as litter bags, badges, car-stickers will be distributed to people who sign on this resolution and thus join City Schools in this social responsibility initiative. Students will also motivate and engage with the general public to act as responsible citizens and will be picking up ill-disposed litter from the areas they will visit.
The City School has engaged celebrities, government officials and media personnel to grace the event with their presence.
