Pakistan’s discarded Test batsman Faisal Iqbal lashed out at the Pakistan Cricket Board for ignoring him in the new central contracts offered to 23 players, saying he was left out for being former captain Javed Maindad’s relative. “It’s ridiculous not to see my name in 30 boys after scoring so heavily in domestic cricket,” Faisal said on his facebook page. “It shows to me that PCB is personal with me not seeing my runs but taking revenge from me as I am paying the price for being Miandad’s relative,” he said. Earlier also, Faisal in an interview on a television claimed that he was being discriminated against since he was the nephew of Miandad who is presently employed as a director in the Board on a handsome salary.
The 29 -year-old, who last played for Pakistan in the 2010 Sydney Test against Australia, said he was disappointed at not getting the central contract. “Come on PCB what will you get by disturbing a Pakistan Test player,” Faisal, who has played 26 Tests and 18 ODIs, said. The stylish batsman, who is presently playing for PIA in the ongoing T20 Corporate Cup in Karachi, has been scoring heavily in domestic cricket and he scored a century and two half centuries in his last three first class matches in the Pentangular Cup for Sindh in March.
The Board also ignored former captain Shahid Afridi while giving the central contract indicating that it is not interested in trying to convince him to resume his career.
