The trains and flights delayed due to the rain on Monday causing problems for passengers. However, fight delays were smaller compared to train delays where passengers suffered badly with delays in both arrivals and departures. All express and mail trains going out from Lahore Railway Station were delayed for six to seven hours while trains coming to Lahore also arrived late. Passengers said that it was a nightmare for them to travel via trains. “It took me around 18 hours to reach Lahore from Bahawalpur via train. Next time I would prefer a coach,” said train-traveler Basit Ali.
A few flights also arrived with slight delays, as there were heavy rains in upper Punjab. A Pakistan Railways official said that trains were delayed due to problems in the signal system and weak railway tracks. He said trains could not be run in full speed due to weak tracks since it could cause accidents.
