Police open fire on people protesting against raids in Malir

Police opened fire and resorted to teargas shelling on hundreds of people protesting against raids in Malir, here on Tuesday.
The previous night, police conducted raids and arrested many suspects from Malir in connection with the ongoing killing and violence in the metropolis. Hundred of local residents came out from their houses this morning and started protest against the arrest of people while demanding sacking of the SHO of the local police station.
The protesters said on the occasion that the police have arrested innocent people and they should be released immediately. They also showed bullet shells on the occasion as proof of last night’s firing in the area. The police reached on the scene and opened fire and starting teargas shelling to control the protesters, which created chaos and people started to run for safety.
The protesters scattered after the firing and shelling, but tension has gripped the entire area. Heavy contingents of police are present in the area to control the situation.
