Lahore District and Sessions Judge Mujahid Mustaqeem on Tuesday issued notices for August 11 to Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid (PML-Q) Member of the Provincial Assembly (MPA) Chaudhry Moonis Elahi and other accused involved in the National Insurance Corporation Limited (NICL) land scam. On Tuesday, the court resumed hearing of the scam on direction of the Lahore High Court (LHC). Earlier, the case was being heard by Banking Offence (Central) Special Judge Malik Abdul Rasheed, but he as a protest refused to hear the case and forwarded it to the LHC chief justice (CJ), for marking to any other court. The LHC CJ marked it to the district and sessions judge for further proceedings. For hearing the NICL land scam, Mustaqeem was given special powers of a banking offence special judge by the federal government. Co-accused Rizwan Bhatti and Muhammad Khalil filed applications for post-arrest bail and the court issued notices in this regard as well.
