Peshawar DCO Siraj Ahmad, LRH, RMO Hayatabad Medical Complex, Peshawar and Incharge A/E, Khyber Teaching Hospital Peshawar other concerned officers were also present on the occasion. The commissioner said the compensations were always delayed and that caused inconvenience to the affected, adding that the process needed to be streamlined.
The meeting decided that the hospital authorities, immediately after issuing the death certificate, would fax the names to the office of the commissioner as well as to the Peshawar DCO. The onus of recording correct names and addresses of the victims would be on the hospitals, the meeting decided. Similarly, the DCO would depute ACO or other senior officer to remain in the hospital for at least three consecutive days that the list of the victims is obtained in time. The hospital authorities shall ensure that lists of victims are provided to the district administration as early as possible. It was pointed out that categorisation of major/minor injured takes at least three days and at the most three weeks.
The chair directed that notwithstanding the maximum period, efforts should be made by the hospital authorities to categorise and communicate list of the major injured to the DCOs within the shortest possible time. Moreover, the initial list provided by hospital authorities must contain names of those patients referred to other hospitals for specialised treatment and where there is a delay, full justification for the delay should be given, the meeting decided.
