The Karachi Water and Sewerage Board (KWSB) has decided to reduce the petrol and diesel quota of its officers, a decision that is likely to help it save an amount of Rs 65 million a year.
“Cutting the extra burden of expenses was inevitable due to the constant surge in diesel and petrol prices,” KWSB Managing Director Misbahuddin Fareed said on Monday.
“By reducing the petrol and diesel quota of water utility officers, the KWSB would pursue a government-like policy,” he added.
By reducing the quota of petrol, the board would save Rs 3.4 million on a monthly basis and Rs 40 million every year.
Similarly the reduction in the diesel quota of the water utility’s officers would save around Rs 2.34 million monthly and more than Rs 24.5 million yearly.
