Abducted doctor still missing

Renowned dental surgeon Dr Abdul Qayyum, allegedly abducted by secret services from Rahim Yar Khan, has not been found despite the passage of two weeks since his abduction. His family presented the case to reporters at a press conference at Lahore Press Club on Tuesday. Qayyum’s wife along with her son and daughter said Qayyum was suffering from diabetes and was not in the best of health. She appealed to the government to take necessary steps to find him and punish the perpetrators. She said the abductors kidnapped the doctor without any prior threats or warning and did not contact the family even after abduction to demand any sort of ransom. Qayyum was allegedly abducted by the intelligence agencies on July 27. He was out buying groceries when unidentified men on a jeep stopped his car and hauled him away. He was said to have connections with the banned organisation named Hizbut Tehreek.
