Around 18 people, including nine children, were injured in different wall collapse incidents in the city.
According to details, in Altaf Colony, North Cantt, Akram, Khalid, Nawaz, Daud, Liaqat, Muhammad Azeem, Ashiq and Sabtauin Ali were injured, as wall of their houses collapsed due to rain. In other incidents, Shehzad in Choong area, Majeed in Sandah, Tariq in Gulshan-e-Ravi, Sajjad in Samanabad and Mushtaq from Baghbanpura were injured when walls of their houses collapsed owing to rain.
A 25-year-old man was seriously injured when a depilated roof collapsed at Ghazi Road. The injured was identified as Saeed, a resident of Ghazi Road, Ichhra. According to Edhi officials, the roof of his house caved in due to heavy rain. Rescue 1122 officers reached the spot and recovered him from the debris. He was shifted to nearby hospital where his condition was stated to be stable. Separately, body of an unidentified 22-year-old man was recovered from the River Ravi near LDA Ground, Bund Road. The body was floating near the bank of the river when someone spotted it and informed Rescue 1122, whose officials reached the spot and brought the body out. Shahdara Town Police also reached the spot and removed the body to the city morgue for autopsy. Sub-Inspector Waris said that the body was putrefied and police would lodge a FIR according to the autopsy report. He said police were searching for heirs of the victim.
Also on Tuesday, children set ablaze a parked bogy of a train while playing at the Cantt Railway Station on Tuesday.
According to Edhi officials, few unidentified children were playing near the parked bogy when they set it on fire. Some passer-by informed Rescue 1122 officials, who reached the spot and controlled the fire. No casualties were reported in the incident but the bogy was damaged to an extent.
A 28-year-old man was electrocuted in Hunjerwal area. According to details, Abdul Ghaffar was working in a hotel when he was electrocuted and fainted on the spot. He was taken to hospital where doctors pronounced him dead. After completing all steps, his body was handed over to his family.
An unidentified 50-year-old woman was crushed to death by a speeding car in the Johar Town Police precincts on Tuesday. The deceased was crossing Main Boulevard, Johar Town when a speeding car hit her from behind. As a result, she was seriously injured while the car driver managed to flee. Local residents called Rescue 1122, whose officials shifted the deceased to Jinnah Hospital where she succumbed to her injuries. Johar Town Police registered a case against the unidentified car driver.
