Constable dies while chasing bike racers


Police constable Ijaz died while Shahid received serious injuries as they collided with a wrongly parked truck while chasing two suspected bikers near the Muslim Town underpass on Sunday. Both the constables were on a routine patrol when they signalled two suspected youths, Saqib and Abdul Rehman of Awan Town, to stop. As the bikers ignored the signal, the policemen started chasing them on the official bike.
Near the Muslim Town underpass all four of them collided with a wrongly parked truck, receiving serious injuries. Some passers by informed officials of Rescue 1122 who rushed the injured to a nearby hospital where constable Ijaz succumbed to his injuries while the other three were said to be out of danger. The police registered a case under Sections 290, 291 and 322 of the Pakistan Penal Code against Saqib, Abdur Rehman and the unidentified truck driver.
