The first segment of the three-segment Ramadan Rose Bowl Golf Championship at Royal Palm Golf Course has concluded, the golfer who emerged spiritually alert and accomplished after the first outing was Shahid Abbas who lunged ahead of many seasoned competitors with a score that looks decent and steady.
During the first segment, although there were many established competitors in the field, seeking honours but it was Shahid who never got overawed by the presence of the more skilled ones and played with courage, hitting perfectly off the tees and whenever he drifted off the fairway, the retrieval shot was penalty saving rather than shot wasting and that strategy paid dividends and won him a leaders slot, until the next round is held.
Shahid is placed at a net score of 35, followed by Hamza Khan, Hussain Hamid, Saad and Ale Imran. They all are breathing down his neck, barely a stroke or two away and all determined to upstage him on the coming Friday.
