Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Sunday accused the provincial government of allegedly preparing bogus voter lists and announced to bring the matter to the notice of the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) for a proper action.
Addressing a press conference, deputy provincial chief of the party Mushtaq Ahmad Khan said the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government was including fake voters in the lists of which they had received written complaints from Buner and Dir districts.
He also presented some lists tempered with ink-remover.
He said the coalition partners, especially the ANP, had deputed like-minded officials to prepare voter lists.
Mushtaq Khan said the provincial government postponed the process of making new voter lists in some areas of the province and the act revealed its ulterior motives. He said both the PPP and the ANP had always violated the sanctity of democracy and ballot box. As happened in the past wherein Supreme Court of the country took notice of registration of more than 30 million fake votes in the country, he hoped that a strict action would be taken in the latest case as well.
To a question, he feared that the general elections would not be free and fair.
