The Punjab government’s focus is on primary and protective healthcare and huge funds are being allocated for provision of state-of-the-art healthcare facilities to the masses, especially labourers and their families, Punjab Labour Minister Ehsanuddin Qureshi said on Saturday.
The minister was addressing a delegation of doctors, paramedics and labourers. He said that the Punjab government was appointing gynecologists at health centers in remote areas to provide better healthcare facilities to mothers. The minister said that the Punjab government was paying special attention on refresher courses for lady health workers (LHW), as the MMR in LHWs covered area was 147/100,000 live births, compared 300 to 350/100,000 in uncovered areas, therefore, the LHWs and community midwives were being appointed at all health centers in remote areas.
