Pakistan National Council of the Arts (PNCA) held a prize distribution ceremony on Saturday for the participants of its summer art classes. Fifty students’ work was awarded recognition during the ceremony.
Addressing the occasion, PNCA Director General Tauqir Nasir said children were the future of the nation, and it was the nation’s foremost responsibility to nurture and groom its youth to ensure a secure, prosperous and meaningful future for them. As a step to ensure participation of the poor in cultural and extracurricular activities, Nasir announced ten scholarships for indigent students on the occasion. The PNCA head also said he hoped to ensure the participation of a number of students from the poorer sections of the society in next year’s summer camp. “The duration of next year’s children’s art summer camp might be extended to four months instead of three,” he added.
