University of Health Sciences (UHS) Vice Chancellor (VC) Professor Malik Hussain Mubbashar said on Friday there would be a common entry test for both the FSc and Non-FSc students this year, which would be held simultaneously in Lahore, Faisalabad, Multan, Rawalpindi, Bahawalpur, Gujrat, Rujranwala, Sargodha, Sahiwal, Dera G Khan, Hassan Abdal and Rahim Yar Khan on September 13.
Addressing an orientation seminar at Alhamra, Mubbashar said there would be a single question paper comprising 220 objective type questions, divided into four sections, namely: Physics (44 questions), Chemistry (58 questions), English (30 questions) and Biology (88 questions). The duration of the test would be 150 minutes. The test would start at 9am and end at 11:30am. The VC said after the test, candidates would be asked to answer an aptitude test and fill in the feedback forms, for which extra 30 minutes would be given to them.
He said because the aptitude test was being introduced for the first time, there would be no marks assigned this year, however, from next the year, some weightage would be given to it in the test score. Mubbashar said candidates with domiciles from Punjab, Islamabad, Independent Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan securing at least 60 percent marks in FSc (Pre-Medical) or equivalent examination would be eligible to apply for the test. Those awaiting results should provide a Hope Certificate issued by the principal of their respective institution, stating the candidate is expected to secure at least 60 percent marks in the examination, he added.
The VC said there would be no fee for the test and entrance test kits would be available free-of-cost at UHS and other public sector medical and dental colleges from August 20. The deadline to apply is September 07. The UHS VC said that UHS would continue with the Self Scoring System introduced in 2009. The answer key would be uploaded on the university website and published in daily newspapers soon after the test. The candidates would be able to calculate their scores with the help of carbonised copy of their response sheet which they would retain after the test, he added.
According to the regulations of Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC), the merit of a candidate would be worked out by adding the marks of matriculation, intermediate and entrance test in the ratio of 10:40:50 respectively, he concluded.
