Journalists of Peshawar staged a protest demonstration against police’s torture on a team of newsmen in Quetta.
Protesting journalists of Khyber Union of Journalists (KhUJ) led by it President Arshad Aziz Malik and other senior officers held placards inscribed with slogans against barbarism and police’s inhuman attitude towards journalists. They strongly criticised police for targeting reporters and termed it as a direct attack on media’s freedom.
KhUJ leaders said police were torturing journalists of Quetta and demanded the government and concerned high-ups to take stern action against officials involved in such heinous acts. They said responsible policemen should be punished and threatened conducting a series of protest demonstrations if their demands were not met.
They also appealed chief justices of the apex court to take notice of police’s violence on reporters.
