Flood victims

The holy month of fasting has begun. The Muslims in Pakistan and around the globe will prepare and taste sumptuous sehris (pre-dawn feast) and iftars (sundown feast) during this month of fasting.

But unfortunately the ill-fated flood victims who are passing their days and nights in the torn-out tents on the outskirts of different big cities of Sindh province do not have enough food to observe and break the fasting.

The rulers and NGOs are doing nothing for these hungry people. However, the role of international bodies such as the International Rescue Committee, the USAID, the IOM and a few others has been praise worthy to alleviate the miseries of these ill-fated people. However, I request the international humanitarian and relief organisations and also the well-to-do families and philanthropists of Pakistan not to forget these camp-dwellers.
