The Punjab Volleyball Association in collaboration with Punjab Olympic Association organised the Azadi Cup One-day Women’s Volleyball Tournament here at Govt College of Technology for Women, Jain Mandar, Lahore to celebrate Independence Day. Four women’s volleyball teams including Govt College Technology for Women Jain Mandar, Govt Qulya-tul-Binat College, Govt Postgraduate College for Women Samanabad and Govt Postgraduate College for Women Wahdat Road Lahore took part in the event. In the opening match, Govt College Technology Jain Mandar beat Qulya-tul Binat by 25-7. Samanabad College beat Wahadat Road College by 25-8.
In the final match played on best of three sets between Samanabad College and Govt College Technology for Women Jain Mandar, Samaabad won the event 2-0 (25-21, 25-22). Kiran and Shahzia were the best players of the final match. Mrs Samina Almas, Principal Govt College of Technology for Women, was the chief guest and gave away the Azadi Cup to the winning team and distributed prizes.
